Philippe BERRY

Philippe Berry is a French artist sculptor, born in Paris in 1956 and died in 2019.
Trained at the drawing school ESAG Met de Penninghen, both passed by the illustration and the creation of movie posters with René Ferracci as a reference, Philippe Berry devotes himself to sculpture from the mid 1980s. He makes bronze his material of choice.
His aesthetic is based on an exploration of the world of childhood; an approach influenced on the one hand by the comic strip and more particularly Robert Crumb whom he met in 2018, and on the other hand by the currents of New Realism and Pop Art with artists such as Niki de Saint-Phalle, Arman, Yves Klein and Andy Warhol.
Through formal proposals that he has always wanted to be playful and accessible to all ages, the artist also transposes his reflections on technique; the question of mastery to which are attached the notions of balance and freedom. Through the idea of a rediscovered pleasure, candid, spontaneous, as is the wonder of childhood, the artist has never ceased to seek, to question, to stage, to represent a timeless, iterative and sensorial balance.
